Angler Shield is a Unique type of Shield in Outward.

The petrified Giant which you need to interact with.

With the Slumbering Shield from The Vault of Stone, head towards the entrance to the Oil Refinery and look south / south-east, there will be a small plateau south of the refinery that contains a petrified Giant in a small recess against a rock protrusion. Interact with it with the Shield equipped while you are afflicted by Mild Petrification to receive the awakened artifact - Angler Shield. The affliction will also be removed in the process.

This does not free the petrified giant from his petrification.
