Shield allows you to temporize whenever you feel it is required.

Gep's Blade allows to handle with ease multiple enemies and Bosses with low Ethereal resistance.

Fabulous Palladium Shield with Elemental Vulnerability and Haunt Hex increase Ethereal damages.

Sorobor Academy choice boosts Ethereal damages with Infuse Mana (Imbue) and Cooldown reduction with Logistics Expert.

Consider switching to Tsar Sword and / or Tsar Shield for enemies with high Ethereal resistance. You could then use Puncture instead of Haunt Hex.
