Full Build Details

This build is based around using the Old Legion Spear enchanted with War Memento to inflict fire damage that is buffed by the Antique Plate Set, and inflict Scorched and Curse to use with Hex Mage's Torment to get some DoT's down on the enemy while you whittle them down with your spear. Additionally, you can use Jinx and Rupture to get more out of the Hex Mage skill tree and damage with Hexes.

Your general combat rotation will look something like this: If you have a chance to apply Hexes with Jinx before the enemy sees you, do that (I usually go for three Hexes) If not, first apply Curse and Scorched by attacking with your spear 3-5 times, and use Torment to apply all the DoTs and debuffs associated with your Hexes. Next, simply poke away while keeping your distance, and use your counter skills when you can for extra damage and impact. When your enemy is close to death, cast Rupture to finish them off.

The Holy Mission is the best for the many passives it provides. However, any faction could be chosen based on player preference. For this build, Holy Mission > Blue Chamber > Heroic Kingdom > Sorobor Academy.

For the purposes of the build I recommend getting 3 or 4 points of Mana from a Ley Line, as the Economy enchant on all our armor pieces will give us a 45% Mana cost reduction (55% with Divine Assistance). With these combined, we should never run out of mana while using our skills. Make sure to keep a mana regen food buff active on you at all times (such as Turmmip Potage or Star Mushroom), to recover mana in conjunction with Bloodlust.

The Old Legion Spear has the longest reach of any weapon in the game. Make sure to use that to your advantage in combat by keeping your distance to the enemy. This spear is rather slow, though. To bypass this when elemental damage is not necessary for a fight, simply use Infuse Wind instead of an elemental infuse for increased speed and impact.

To acquire the spear, either loot Ornate Chests in Abrassar, or do not complete the Vendavel Quest to let Cierzo be destroyed, and loot it from the bandits who now patrol the town.

As a spear user with the Warrior Monk skill tree, you have three separate counters. It is important to learn how to use these effectively in your fights.

The Armor pieces can be obtained from Harmattan's Blacksmith by turning in 3 Shield Golem Scraps and some silver.

Instead of Economy enchant on your chest armor piece, you can use Aegis for more defense, or Spirit of Harmattan for CD reduction and extra damage on Decay.

In the very late game if you build your town, consider building the Gladiator's Arena for one of two perks, both of which benefit this build. Either Cruelty through the Combat Academy upgrade to boost your DoT abilities from Hex Mage (though this does have some drawbacks, so consider this carefully), or Vicious Cycle through the Training Grounds upgrade for another high damage sweeping ability.
