Some examples (you do not need to use any of this, just to help you get started):

Start out with Elite Plate armor and rush through the mainstory to unlock the three brothers DLC Armor. With the Equipment and Quests complete, you will get a total Protection of 32 and Barrier: 27 reducing most elemental damage coming at you to 0 and leaving most physical attacks at you rather useless. Whatever comes through can easily be healed with rune magic.
