Dialogue

(#0) Rebel Priest: We’re going to return home to Monsoon shortly. We’re going to camp here for now. (→ end)

(#1) Rebel Priest: You just stay back. We’re done with Elatt. Just leave us be. (→ end)

(#2) Rebel Priest: Another one? Are you gathering an army to put us down before we spread this "heresy" any further? Is that it? (→ #3)

(#3) Multiple-choice:

  • 0: We're not here to hurt you. We just want to talk. (→ #4)

(#4) Rebel Priest: Then start talking. The world needs to know about Elatt and his connection to the Scourge. We think he may have caused it himself. Why else would they originate from the same place he was travelling? (→ #5)

(#5) Multiple-choice:

  • 0: The Scourge spell was designed by Elatt's enemies specifically to kill only him. By refusing to die, he became Living Thought, and the Scourge burst from him. (→ #6)
  • 1: The Scourge is a plague that corrupts Aurai itself! He was just in the wrong place. (→ #20)
  • 2: The Cabal of Winds saw Elatt as a threat, and tried to kill him. In doing so, they unleashed the Scourge. (→ #21)

(#6) Rebel Priest: You believe that the tribes that feared his influence would go that far? ... Actually, I do believe they might. Fear of change spurs us to do terrible things. But even so, you're saying that Elatt's refusal to be killed by the Scourge spell is what unleashed them? (→ #7)

(#7) Rebel Priest: Then why didn't he let himself die, rather than unleash the Scourge upon us all?! (→ #8)

(#8) Multiple-choice:

  • 0: If you were attacked with a spell designed to kill you, wouldn't you fight back? (→ #9)
  • 1: Remember, Elatt was human. He still thinks a lot like one. Humans make mistakes. We act on instinct when we're in danger. (→ #18)
  • 2: How was he supposed to know that by resisting, it would blow up half the region? Have you ever heard of spell with that kind of power? (→ #19)

(#9) Rebel Priest: Elatt was the wisest human to walk Aurai, and you think he wouldn't think of the consequences of his actions, even when in danger? I refuse to believe he’d be that careless. (→ #10)

(#10) Rebel Priest: And what about the Vigils? I used to believe that they were a necessary cruelty, but if Elatt and the Scourge are connected like this, why can't he just drive the beasts away? (→ #11)

(#11) Multiple-choice:

  • 0: The only connection that remains is their desire to kill him. Forcing them to flee by using the Vigils is the only thing he can do. (→ #12)
  • 1: He may be a god, but his powers are not unlimited. The Vigils are a temporary fix until he finds a permanent way to end the Scourge. (→ #16)
  • 2: Self-improvement and discipline. We need to overcome the Scourge ourselves or we’d depend on him for everything. (→ #17)

(#12) Rebel Priest: He's destroyed Scourge before using his own light...I find it hard to believe that he's suddenly lost the ability to do that! He should be doing more to stop the Scourge! (→ #13)

(#13) Rebel Priest: I'm... willing to rethink my stance. We've gone from being certain we were right about Elatt's true nature, back to doubts again... Until we find our answers, I think I'm willing to go back to the Holy Mission. (→ end)

(#14) Rebel Priest: I can't accept this. If this was the truth, Elatt should have told us all from the beginning. I can't put my faith in a god who keeps secrets this important from us all. We're done with him and his web of lies. (→ end)

(#15) Rebel Priest: All I hear from you is how Elatt is truly the one responsible for the Scourge! Don't you see that we're worshipping a monster?! This madness ends now, today! It's time to tear down this false god and all of his false disciples! (→ end)

(#16) Rebel Priest: His powers are... limited? I suppose even as a god, he did come from a human spirit. It would explain why he does not see everything all the time, and why he rarely contacts anyone personally. I can believe that. (→ #13)

(#17) Rebel Priest: I lost my father to a Scourge Beast, am I supposed to accept that it was anything other than senseless? I refuse. Suffering is senseless, and if Elatt doesn't agree, then he's just full of himself! (→ #13)

(#18) Rebel Priest: Instinct does control us all in our most desperate moments. I suppose even gods-to-be can make mistakes when they face a life-threatening crisis. (→ #10)

(#19) Rebel Priest: Elatt was a master spellcaster, he should have easily understood the nature of the spell he was struck with… (→ #10)

(#20) Rebel Priest: Do you really think you can lie to me? I refuse to believe that this was a coincidence. Elatt either caused the Scourge himself, or he did not do enough to prevent it! He should have protected us even if it meant his mortal death! (→ #7)

(#21) Rebel Priest: Well, it's awfully convenient that the people he’s accusing of causing the Scourge are his primary competition for believers! And you expect me to believe that the Scourge only appeared because the Cabal tried to kill him? (→ #7)
