Full Build Details
With the damage bonuses from Antique Plate Sallet and Spirit of Cierzo, you have +25% damage from fire and
ice damage. On top of the 30% you get from the respective boons. This makes the Thrice-Wrought Halberd a really good way to apply only elemental damage and circumvent all physical armor. Plus, it means you can fight any enemy effectively because besides the Myrmitaur there is no enemy that is highly resistant to both damage types.
To further build on this theme, you bring the Sigil of Ice to throw out a lot of ice damage. And Infuse Fire to augment your melee damage with further fire damage.
In general the Sigil of Ice is most useful for dealing with groups of enemies. While the more fire focussed melee attacks are better for dealing with single targets. Because of this I prefer to run the Scorch Hex, as applying that hex on a single target makes sense to increase my sustained single target damage. But the Chill Hex isn't so useful. The time, mana and effort it takes to apply the chill hex on enemies, is better spent making another attack.
This obviously doesn't mean you shouldn't be using your Sigil of Ice against bosses. Mana Push and Mana Ward are already useful spells on their own, zo adding damage to them is great.
Damage bonuses
From your gear and boons you get 55% damage bonus to both ice and
fire damage. Add in Brains for another 15% each in the lategame. This is a respectable amount of extra damage, but there are ways to get it a fair bit higher. I will explain why I don't use the following paths to higher
ice and
fire damage:
- White Priest Mitre - This would increase both damage types by 10%, rather than just
fire. The reason the Antique Plate Sallet with Economy is better, is because it offers better protection, and a total of -20%
mana cost and -10%
stamina cost. Allowing you to manage mana and stamina better while keeping your defensive stats higher.
- Rust Lich Set - This would be a great set for this build, considering you don't use any physical damage. But you won't have access to this set until you have completed both the main campaign, and the Soroboreans DLC. Plus you would have to give up your movement speed bonus from Guidance of Wind. If you don't mind being really slow, combining the Rust Lich Armor and Rust Lich Boots, gives you a little bit more fire damage.
- Sigil of Fire + Mana Ward = Immolate - For 60 seconds you deal 30% more fire damage while recieving 0.5 fire damage per second. This would essentially give you a 15% damage buff (since roughly half of your damage is fire based) while costing a fair bit of health. If you want to use this, you are better off just building a pure fire mage.
- The Heroic Kingdom of Levant - The questline reward for this faction gives +15% to all types of damage. This would be great! However the late game reward for this faction applies only to
physical damage, and is thus wasted. While the The Holy Mission of Elatt quest rewards allow you to use less
mana and
stamina, and increase your survivability significantly. All of the rewards are useful for you and help you make up for your mediocre survivability, rather than adding to your already inpressive damage potential.
