=== Introduction : ===
I'm going to present you one of the strongest (if not the strongest) dagger build on Outward. Nothing can stand against it because of the absurd amout of damage you will get.
Damage Calculations from Gear
- Armor + backpack: 44% physical damage
- Passives: 85% physical damage
- if Calygrey Bone Cage: 10% physical damage
TOTAL BONUS ~ 139% increased physical damage
Damage Calculations with buffs(excluding varnishes)
- Armor + backpack: 44% physical damage
- Passives: 85% physical damage
- if Calygrey Bone Cage: 10% physical damage
- Amplified Discipline: 30% physical damage
- Physical Attack Up: 20% physical damage
TOTAL BONUS ~ 189% increased physical damage
- Pain: -25% physical resistance
- Damascene or Masterpiece sword: 25% increased weapon skill damage
Lazy to give you a example of damage since all bonuses don't apply the same way but if i should recap : BIG DAMAGE.
Gearing up:
- no enchants are required for your armor
- Zagis'Mask is the best helmet to get physical damage and tanking at the cost of stamina. If you aren't comfortable with that, you can still use Hound Mask or Master Kazite Oni Mask.
- Zagis'Armor is the same as the mask, Slayer's Armor is a good alternative.
- Slayer's Boots are the best boots for physical damage.
- Brigand's Backpack for even for physical damage. Can be easily obtain thanks to the Friendly Immaculate in Caldera.
- Don't forget the Calygrey Bone Cage, always nice to get on a physical build.
Armament
You don't need all these weapons to make the build work but each one of them is going to be making your adventure more enjoyable.
- Your main weapon for this build is going to be the Rondel Dagger enchanted with Unsuspected Strength. It has the best damage of all daggers by far.
- Another dagger i recommend to play with is the Vampiric Dagger, it is insanely comfy to play and even if it doesn't have the same damage as the Rondel Dagger, the healing is really good and you still have decent damage.
- In your right hand, you want to play with Damascene Sword or Masterpiece Sword. From these weapons, you get 25% more damage for your dagger skill. Moreover, playing with a sword allows you to apply pain easily with Puncture and get a free x2 damage on opportunist stab. I don't recommend to use Maelstrom Blade because it isn't useful for this build. It is easier to shot enemies with scrap from a safe spot and switch back to your dagger than going in melee to apply both debuffs and go back on your main sword.
- Cannon Pistol is going to be your tool to apply pain and confusion with Shatter Bullet. Less heavier than a sword, cheap as fuck, safe to use and can wait in your backpack when you are fighting enemies that don't requires 850+ damage.
Passives that are mandatory
You don't want to miss these passives, they are going to make your build really OP.
- Shamanic Resonance, best way to spend your breakthough points. You can put this in any build and it will work.
- Alchemical Experiment, joining the Heroic Kingdom of Levant because it is the best faction for damage, especially for physical damage builds.
- Kirouac's Breakthrough, increases even more your damage, so good for late game.
- Brawns, more stam and more damage, some fights might requires a good amount of stam since very late game bosses can be immune to pain and confusion.
- Patience, perfect passive for any dagger build since it is working on every dagger skill.
Passives that are still nice and free to pick
Gameplay
You might think you want to apply pain and confusion to do an Opportunist Stab but most of the time, it is just a waste of time or damage. Most of your enemies are going to die in few Dagger Slash and enemies that don't (like bosses), you want to keep your debuff on them because even if you strike a good stab x4, you are losing dps after it. From my experience, it is better (for both your dps and safety) tha you keep pain and confusion on enemies so you can spam your Dagger Slash, that have a ton of damage and can also stunlock the boss. So i'm mainly using Opportunist Stab as a finisher.
Backstab and Serpent's Parry are nice to get but not that useful most of the time. However, both of them are essential for your strongest combo.
CDR DAGGER ?
It sucks. It requires you to get your 4 stack, never lose any, losing physical damage : Just borring to play and not even worth the damage. I made a video of a dagger build (elemental build but it is working the same way as the physical one) and you can see that you don't need CDR to obliterate bosses.
