Among all the armor pieces that provide a mana cost reduction, the Runic Set pieces offer the highest physical damage reduction and along with the Antique Plate Sallet are the only ones that provide protection. Therefore, this set is indicated for melee combat mages, especially when fighting enemies which inflict physical damage. Being a heavy armor set, it slows down the wearer and it taxes the stamina.
