Truth and Purpose is the third faction quest for The Holy Mission of Elatt in Outward, and sixth in the series of main quests.

Timer

Part of this quest has a timer of 3 days. After Elatt's speech, you have 3 days to find and convince the Rebel Priests, otherwise you will automatically receive the "Failure" outcome.

To obtain the Radiant Wolf Sword, you must fail to convince the Priests and not reach this timer.

Walkthrough

1. Ellinara, in the city of Monsoon, will have a task for you in 3 days.
2. Talk with Ellinara, in the city of Monsoon, in the Hallowed Marsh.
3. Meet with Oliele in the slums of Levant, in the southern part of the city. That city is in the Abrassar desert, though one must pass through the Enmerkar Forest first.
   • The fastest way there is through the Spire of Light or Ziggurat Passage (however both of these dungeons require unlocking a small puzzle to pass through), otherwise you will have to travel through Chersonese first.
   • Speak to Oliele in the Slums, and you can choose to either visit Ruins of Old Levant, The Walled Garden or Stone Titan Caves.
   • Only Stone Titan Caves is required, the other two options are entirely optional.
4. [Optional] Investigate the Garden, with its towering dead tree, in the center of Abrassar.
   • Oliele is found right near the entrance, and tells you this locations has no good leads.
5. [Optional] Talk to Oliele in Old Levant, to the north-west of Abrassar, near the Vigil.
   • Enter through the main entrance (it is now unlocked), and find Oliele standing by one of the buildings in front of you.
6. Investigate the interior of the Titan Caves, under immense statues, in the center of Abrassar.
   • The fastest entrance to Stone Titan Caves to reach Oleile can be found slightly northwest of the map icon, located on a ledge west of the bridge leading to Old Levant.
   • There is an Ash Giant Priest at the very bottom of the dungeon with Oliele and a Rune Stone. Kill the giant, whether it is fighting Oliele or has already defeated her, then speak to Oliele.
   • The quest item, an ancient tablet, is obtained from this final chamber when speaking to Oliele. The tablet will not appear in inventory when retrieved.
7. Get the old tablet translated by Soroborean Caravans found in any city, or by Mofat in Monsoon.
   • Mofat in Monsoon can translate the tablet for free, if you completed Purifier.
   • The Soroborean Caravanner sells the translation for 150 silver at any of his locations.
8. Tell Oliele, in Monsoon, about the translated tablet.
   • Talk to Oliele and she will mention that you should bring this up with Elatt in the temple
9. Go in Monsoon's temple and talk to Oliele.
   • After you and Oliele have a conversation with Elatt, he will task you with finding the Rebel Priests and convincing them not to doubt him.
10. Find the rebel priests hiding in a giant lotus, a small distance south from the Marsh's Vigil.
    • The location is Hollowed Lotus. The entrance to the lotus can be found just south of the Monsoon on a hill (it looks like a cave entrance).
    • Talk to the Rebel Priests in the Lotus, and attempt to convince them to not doubt Elatt.
    • There are two options here, depending on which outcome you want:
      • To receive the Radiant Wolf Sword, choose option 3 every time and defeat the priests, then speak to Oliele.
      • To get Acceptance and the Candle Plate Armor and Boots, choose the options:
        • 1: "The Scourge spell was designed..."
        • 2: "Remember, Elatt was human..."
        • 2: "He may be a god, but his powers are not unlimited..."
11. Report to Cardinal Bourlamaque, in the temple in Monsoon.

Outcomes

Complete Success

• You will be promoted to Champion
• Oliele will not leave the Holy Mission.
• You receive Sanctified Protection
• You receive Acceptance (from Oliele)
• 1 Candle Plate Armor
• 1 Candle Plate Boots

Partial Success

• You will be promoted to Champion
• Oliele will not leave the Holy Mission.
• You receive Sanctified Protection
• 1 Candle Plate Armor
• 1 Candle Plate Boots

Failure

• You will be promoted to Templar.
• Oliele will leave the Holy Mission.
• You receive Sanctified Protection
• 1 Radiant Wolf Sword from Oliele (unless you reach the failure timer or die to the Rebels)
• 2 Great Life Potion
• 2 Bolt Varnish
