Purifier is a Parallel Quest in Outward.

Timer

This quest has a timer of 35 days, which begins at the start of the quest. Failing to complete the quest in this time-frame will result in an immediate failure.

Note: The quest will not fail if you are in the Hallowed Marsh region when the 35-day timer elapses.

Additionally, this quest will also be failed if you have not completed it by the time you reach your third faction quest, and wait the 3 days.

Walkthrough

1. Find white-clad missionaries on the Pilgrim Road, flanked with luminous Sun-Pillars, in the Hallowed Marsh.
   • See this map for the two possible locations
   • If they are not at the main location, check the alternate location
2. [Optional] Talk to Mofat in the city of Monsoon.
   • Mofat can be found to your left after entering Monsoon.
3. [Optional] Talk to the Philosopher Trainer Alemmon, in the north-east of Monsoon.
   • Talk to Alemmon, who can be found on the opposite side of Monsoon to Mofat.
4. Find the bandit hideout on spiraling cliffs, in the Hallowed Marsh's west.
   • Head to Dead Roots, and enter from either the top or bottom entrance (top is faster).
5. Investigate the hideout for several pieces of evidence.
   • You will need to find 3 notes in this dungeon to use as evidence. The notes have a glowing indicator on them and are all found on tables and surfaces through the dungeon.
   • While only 3 notes are required, obtaining all 4 will grant you the Dead Roots Key.
   • From the top entrance:
     • Head directly forward over the first wooden bridge, down a set of stairs, and through the bushes into a hidden room with an Immaculate. The note is on the table at the back of this room.
     • Head back and continue down through the dungeon. Walk until there are metal cages on your left and wooden stairs ahead. The note is on the left on a small table.
     • The third note is down the wooden stairs on the next table.
     • The final note is at the bottom of the dungeon, near the bottom entrance on a table.
   • [Optional] Once all 4 notes are obtained, receive the Dead Roots Key and use it to unlock the wooden 'Tuanosaur' door to Dead Tree, near the bottom of the dungeon. A fifth note implicating Jager Sullivan and the Glowstone Backpack are in this room, guarded by an Immaculate and Illuminator Horror.
6. [Optional] Present the evidence to Damian Lockwell, in Monsoon.
   • Talking to him with all evidence will bolster the security of Monsoon, helping you in the final faction quest.
7. Go to the City of Berg, in the Enmerkar Forest, to warn someone in a position of authority.
   • See the Outcomes section below for information about the different rewards from the different NPCs.

Outcomes

Success

If you spoke to Lockwell about the evidence:

• The number of Guards in Monsoon is increased, and they will aid in the player's final faction quest.

Depending on who you hand the evidence to:

• Rissa Aberdeen: 25 silver, and a Writ of Tribal Favor.
  • Note: Rissa may be at the Burnt Outpost if you did not finish your faction quest yet after the attack on Berg
• Mathias: Mathias opens a small equipment store, 25 silver, and 1 Palladium Scrap.
• Sagard Battleborn: 50 silver, and members of Blue Chamber or Holy Mission can ask Sagard for a favor in the final quest instead of dueling him.
• Cyril Turnbull: 50 or 75 silver, and a Trader Backpack (details unclear on what causes 50 or 75 silver)
• Jager Sullivan: 100 silver, and 3 Hackmanite
  • Note: He will give 75 silver, and 2 Hackmanite instead if you did not read the evidence inside Dead Tree. (This may be currently bugged, as it is possible to get the lesser reward even with all evidence.)

Holy Mission

Members of the Holy Mission will also receive on success:

• 3x Survivor Elixir and the recipe for it, provided you did not give the evidence to Jager.

Sorobor Academy

Sorobor Academy members may hand the evidence to a member of the Academy:

• Headmaster Raul Salaberry: Unlocks the Preferential Treatment passive
• Sekiguchi Meiko: Removes the increased buy prices in Harmattan Market
• Hugo Lockwell: Unlocks a private stock of Potions which he sells in packs at a discount

Failure

• The amount of enemies in Monsoon during your final quest is increased, and the number of Guards is reduced
• Dead Tree is permanently inaccessible
